View Full Version : Retriever
Hi everybody! It's been a while since I've contributed something, sorry! Been in and out of the country and running around like a crazy person. But I finally finished this pup I've been working on slowly for a while. It was supposed to be a softer, less detailed look...but the pencils got away from me I think. Less time spent on this than my usual though...I think 15-20 hours.
Bristol Vellum
Image size 8.5 x 8.5 inches
2B and 3B mechanical pencils
Image from WC library
The whiskers aren't showing up well in the scan, sorry. I haven't gotten ahold of that acetate yet, Arlene.
Thanks for looking. :)
Beth
I hope it's ok if I just link to my website... :o

Incredible, Beth! You should always let your pencils get away from you if this is the result;) :D

Wow, those darks are really dark!! Great job! I do think the wrinkles around his nose could be softened a little, they keep drawing my eye, especially the one which looks like a semi-circle just behind his nose. The fur texture is very well done!!
Hi Beth
excellent drawing
Spectacular drawing as ever Beth....
That's one introspective dog isn't it ?! :) :D

WOW. That's all I can say. It's fantastic. I am always so amazed at the gorgeous pictures you can get with just pencils.
I am starting my golden in the CP area (Indy-WIP). Check it out, maybe you can give me some tips!

Beth, you do some extraordinarily beautiful graphite pieces. This one is really wonderful. Great facial expression....and I'm not a dog person....the kind of face that would make you want to pet him/her or take him/her home with you.
Keep on drawing!! You have a wonderful gift.

Fabulous job, Beth! Your pencil work is amazing.
I wanna know, too! Why are you in Germany? Are you or your husband military?
Denise, thank you!
Oozoo, thanks. I agree with you there. This is one of those cases I should have improved on the picture. I have sprayed him and it won't soften nicely now I'm afraid. It'll bug me every time I look at this.
Lene, thanks. :)
Cleo, :D thanks!
Angela, thank you. I will take a peek for sure!
Cindy, thank you so much, he looks kinda sad though doesn't he?
Gemma, thanks, ma'am! :D
Lucky and Brenda, thank you! My husband is in the Army and we've been here nearly 6 years. We're getting set to move back to the states this December  I can't wait!
Thanks everyone for the peek!
Beth
