Many are wondering what happened at Wetcanvas.
I had put a link on Wetcanvas to my drawing Trompe l’oeil WIP, (http://www.scribbletalk.com/showthread.php?t=74) which is here on Scribble Talk in the CP forum. I was aware of the Wetcanvas Member Agreement and saw nothing in there that says a post will be deleted by attaching a link to another information provider. Nor does it say a Member’s Account Access will be removed by inserting a link to a member’s work into a post.
I had my account access removed from Wetcanvas for doing that and for starting a new forum with Gemma. I lost all access not only to the Wetcanvas site. Not only did I have my account access removed, but so did Bill (bcoulter), Leanne (elankat) and Toni (TJ/pencils4me). All because we were trying to add to the places on the web where people interested in pencil art could come to learn and because they are volunteering their assistance here on Scribble Talk.
However, the agreement that the Wetcanvas Administrators were citing to explain their actions says that in order to ban a member, 2 warnings must be given, and on the 3rd, that member is banned. If they believe a post is solicitous they do have the right to delete that post, but not the person’s membership if they haven’t been given a warning. In this case they not only deleted my post, but they removed my account access and that of three others who’ve done nothing but help make the forum at Wetcanvas the special place it was.
There was never any rule, written or unwritten, that a moderator or guide on Wetcanvas could not serve as a moderator on another art site. Many of the moderators, both past and present have served as mods or owned their own art sites that might be viewed as competition.
We have always believed that the more support and venues there are for colored pencil, the better it is for promotion of the medium. Like the www.cpchallenge.com (http://www.cpchallenge.com/) site or www.annkullberg.com (http://www.annkullberg.com/) and her FMP forum, Scribble Talk was intended as just another alternative specifically for the pencil artist.
We had all hoped to continue participating in both forums and watching both of them flourish. However, that opportunity was taken away from us.
Our only interest is in seeing pencil mediums flourish and achieve a prominent place in the art world. We here at Scribble Talk do not have any intention of banning members just because they frequent other forums. Please accept our apology for involving all of you in some way in this mess and lets try to put it behind us and continue to share our artwork, our ideas and our lives, just like a open forum should.
Peace, Love, and Keep Scribbling! (But plan your backgrounds! ;) )
