My husband made this for me last night. I am calling it a "portable pencil sharpener." I had been banished from the living room at night because of my noisy pencil sharpener, so he made this for me so I can sit with him at night and draw. It is rather, umm, heavy, and not so cute, but it sharpens very well - no broken leads and very sharp points. Now don't laugh too hard. Can't you just picture me lugging this tool to the park for a plein aire excursion?
So what remarkable tools have you all made? Please share!

Thanks Arlene. I guess I saw this tool as so ridiculous it only deserved a spot in the the cafe, lol. :)
Sorry, I have nothing to top that! LOL! Nicole, maybe you could paint it or something to make it a little more decorative?? ;) :p

Fancy you should say that! My daughter was using some paints today (another rainy day) and has started painting my wonderful portable pencil sharpener as we speak. :D
LOL! :p Please post the results! :)

Hey, as long as it gets the job done, that's all that matters! You might laugh at what I did when I was in a hurry to make my own drawing bridge. I took a thin board and taped two clothes pins to the end of it. It works great and I'm proud of it! Also, you know in the Whitman's Sampler, each chocolate sits in its own little container? Well, I use those little containers as mixing wells. I just got into painting as well as drawing, and needed something at the very moment, and I had that on hand, so I decided to try it.
