Hi Everyone, here is my latest horse portrait... critiques are always welcome-
Haven't done plain graphite in awhile, so it was definately different working in it.

Hey Robin! Beautiful horse! You have lovely detail and I like his expression....really looks like there's something going on inside his head:) :cool:

My suggestion would be to deepen your darks...you kinda have a lot of mid- tones going on...if you did that, your horse would really pop!

Wonderful job, though!:D

I agree with Denise. It is a nice drawing, but darken some of the values. I'm not a horse expert, but the head looks a little short (or proportion off a little). I think some shading under the jaw above the fence would help lengthen the head. Very smooth application of the graphite is nice. :)

I checked out your gallery and you do great animal art. Where is the reference photo for this one?, I want to look at his jawline. Ditto on darken the dark values.

Here is the update and the ref photo... its a bit of an ackward angle- but then i am always looking for unusual photos- Thanks for the compliments on my art- can always use the ego boost!:) :o
