Hi guys!
I decided to work on a quick little portrait while I procrastinate finishing my grandmas feet. :o After working on so many details, I tried to just have fun and stay loose with this one.
It's not completely finished but close...
Any C & C welcome!!! Thanks!

o.k her features are not quite right yet especially her mouth. But I'm having fun anyway. :o :D
I love this! She reminds me of my daughter when she was younger... she had a bit of a pout going on all the time, like life was never to her liking! I think you captured the essence of a little girl!
double check the angle on the tip of her nose?
Geesh girl, what size? what support? what kind of pastels?
Do you use a fixative on yours also? Thats my inquiring minds wanna know question this week. ;)
you've got a great expression going, wonderful color, mood and even though shes pouting... it feels great!
TJ
Ya know... You make me wanna get my pastels out again..
I love this :) ! Those quickies can be fun can't they. Especially when they turn out like this!
Hi Lucky
I don't now how on earth you can paint "a quickie" with such excellent result :)
that face and expression is georgeous, colors beautiful
... one thing is bothering me a bit, looking at the portrait: in the upper right (our view) there is a red shape (part of pillow). The shape seems to echo her face + the intense color calls for too much attention. Perhaps if it was toned down the echo shape would also "dissapear" without changing its shape ?
anyhow, a painting to be admired

Thanks Rose, I thought it was such a cute little pout too, with that little bit of confusion. :)
Thanks Toni, poor little thing, no wonder she was so upset with the crooked nose I gave her. I think it’s a bit better now. But none of it’s exactly right. :o Glad you like the color, I was unsure of it… You should get those pastels out again! Extremely messy but so much fun!!!
This is 9 ½” x 12 ½” (24cm x 32cm), on Sennelier La Carte. Mostly girault pastels. I haven’t used fixative on any of my pastels yet. Not really sure which way to go. So many say it’s not a good idea and other’s think it is???
Thanks Beth! Yeah, this quick one was a lot of fun.
Hi Lene, well a quickie for me is a couple days work.. Maybe that’s slow for most? So glad you like it! And thanks for pointing out the bright area in the background. I’ve changed it now, hope it looks better.
Well here it is, I think it’s done, unless there’s anything else that needs fixing???

Ah, Lucky! Superb!!! The blue against the orangy pinks... the purples against the yellowish hair... you did a great job! I'd like to see what a piece looks like when you're taking a really long time! This is awesome!
Hi lucky
I think it is a striking portrait  .. the colors are brilliant

Oh good so glad the background’s better now!
Thank you Arlene! Well, a quickie is a couple days off and on. That’s the fun thing with pastels. I have lost my patience with CP for now. So I really admire you all!
Thank you Rose! Hopefully I’ll be done with my grandma soon, that one has taken forever! :p
Thank you lene! Thank you Meisie!

Hi Lucky,
This piece has such a nice light airyness to it. You have a tremendous style that truley looks effortless. I see the same style and technique with the old masters. They seem to be able to portray with just a few well placed strokes the exact emotion or object that they see. I would say that you have acheived this level also. This is very nice!!!

I thought this portrait was stunning before you changed the colors a bit, now it's even better. I know nothing about art to speak of but I know what I like and I love this! There is sooo much expression I don't know how you did it much less make it a quickie! I look at work like this and yearn to be able to take classes to get me started in my journey to unleashing the artist in me. I think I will have a problem in cultivating the free flowing drawing. I've alway been too precise therefore I don't draw anything because it isn't perfect! Where should I start? I would love to be able to do portraits as well as scenery. The prospect scares me to death to try.

oooooooooo, I LOVE this! Great movement. (I think the reworking of the background is superb...good call!)
My very first impression was gosh, this looks purely Renoir-esque...I don't know how to give higher praise than that! Gorgeous!

Denise, as always Thank you so much! Your such a great encourager!
Ahhh the banner was pretty ugly I think, so it needed to go! Ha ha :o
Wow Dave, what a nice comment! That’s so nice of you to say I hope some day to be as good as those guys! I get the most incredible feelings looking at all the old masters art. I hope I can someday make people feel an ounce of what I feel when I see their work.
Hi stamped, there are tons of books out there that could help. I use to be a perfectionist, not so much anymore though, and I think my art’s improving because of it. Please feel free to PM me and maybe I can help. I have so much to learn though, but I’ll really try to help if I can…But definitely having fun with it should be a top priority!
Hi Roxana, thanks so much for your super nice compliment!
You all are the best!
