In the user staement is says "That you will not post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this site. If copyrighted images are used for reference material, permission from the owner must be obtained and credit given."
If I have a photograph of a celebrity that I have used for reference but the photo was just off the internet and no visible copyright was displayed, how can I get permission so I can display the photo and my drawing here to get constructive criticism ? I wouldn't know who to ask. And some photos are just off fan sites so they have no copyright on them either.
I don't want to get in trouble, could someone help ? :blushing:
I'm not sure about how to get permission on fan sites, but if there is a name of the poster you might ask them if it is their photo. More than likely it is not. I'm sure there are websites by the photographers. You could send an email directly to the original photographers that way. If they grant permission, then give them credit.
Maybe some others will give you some more ideas.
Have you checked out the image library here at ScribbleTalk? See the link at the top of this page. There are lots of photos from members here that you can use. I would just let the owner of the image know that you are going to use the image. :)

If you write the administrator of the site you got it from, they might be able to direct you to the photographer. Unfortunately though, alot of these sites will put up images not knowing they're not allowed either.

MickeyG - no sorry I'm not a Keith Urban fan. I use that username because I used to dress like a hippie, a faze I've never really grown out of :)
Arlene - thanks for the further explanation. I'll just stick to art from artists who dies over 70 years ago so I don't fall into problems.

Arlene, If you use an old picture that is no longer under copywrite that is in a new book, does the old picture get copywrited in the new book, or is it just the new text or pictures that are copywrited?
Hi
I think photos from these places shouldn't make trouble (?):
ScribbleTalks Image Library
WetCanvas Image Library
Stock xchang - here you must be sure to read under the thumbnail of the picture if the photographer wants payment for your usage ! But there are lots of free pics
