Hey Gemma!
I have a couple questions for you... if Arlene knows the answer that would be cool too...

First I noticed that Scribble Talk had it's own url. Did you do that because of server requirements (did the server Scribble was on not have php and mysql access) or are you doing that to make sure the forum has lots of space for future expansion?

My other question is, are you planning to have an area for contributions or are you planning to sell ad space?
I know as a fact just buying your dot com name and server space every year can get expensive.

I'm still unsure about going the vBullitin route for what I'm going to want (besides... it ain't cheap to use). I do want to keep my options open though and... maybe I'm not the only who wants to know how this runs. ;)

Hi Karen,

We decided it was best to have the Scribble Talk domain mainly because of future expansion. Currently Scribble is on a webhost that charges quite a bit to expand. So we went out and found web hosting with a better price and lots more room for expansion. A forum can take up a lot of band width so we thought it best to allow for that.

We do sell adds. Right now we are charging $30 a year to have your ad added to the rotating banner up top. There has been some talk about having people, who want to, help the site by having a paid membership but it won't be required. So don't worry folks this site is free and will remain to be free. We haven't worked out all the details on that yet, as soon as we do we will let you know.

Another thing I would like to add,,,,, this has gone way above my/our expectations!!!!! We have only been live for 2 days now and we have 63 subscribed members! We have over 1100 posts,,, phew!! And,,, 133 threads already. You guys are keeping the 5 of us just hopping around like little bunny rabits. Way to go to all of our members:clap:   .

Thanks!!
Gemma

Yea... darn that. You get a bunch of experts together willing to share their knowledge and give free advice and the next thing you know... everybody wants to join. Go figure. ;) :D

Thanks for answering my questions Gemma. I thought it might have been a space issue. Maybe someday I'll be able to buy an ad here.

Enjoy!
