Here is a wip of my sister's puppy. If anyone can give me some tips on fur, I would really appreciate it.

I can't give input on fur as I have never done any, but I love that sad puppy-dog expression! I'll be watching this progress:)
nice to see you posting again!;)

Yeah, I've been in Italy. Just got back a couple days ago and my great-grandmother had died. I didn't feel much like posting. I'll be posting my sketches from Italy soon though.

Its alright. She was 96, and she wanted to die. She was one cool lady though. I think I posted my 5 generations piece in graphite forever ago if you want to see her.

cool...I'll look for it. It's been many years since my great-grandma died but she was really neat...she chewed tobacco and ate wheaties for breakfast everyday:p

Well, you see, you get to spoil the grandkids. I'll always remember when I got into a fight at school, and my mother told my grandmother, hoping that she would give me some talk about it not being "ladylike". My grandmother just laughed and told me he deserved it.

daughter turns 20 Oct 1:eek: and son is 17 1/2...turns 18 in March. She's a sophomore in college, he's a HS senior...same age as you;)
I'm in no hurry to be a grandma....my kids are both virgins commited to waiting for marriage (we're very open about it). I just know it will happen within the next few years.
I turn 40 the end of Oct.

Yeah same for me...the virgin part..I'm a sophomore in college...2 hours short of being a junior (damn the terrorists). I've got three sisters, 27, 23, 22, none of which are married.

Aww thanks.
Lets see..mom opened a school 2 years before I was born..when I was two I started sneaking into the kindergarten classroom, so I made it into first grade by the time I was 5. Then first and second grade were done in 1 year, making me 6 when I was in third. 4th and 5th were done in one year also, and I was a fairly tall kid (I'm 5'10''), so no-one really noticed. When I was in 9th grade, my mom's school became public and she suddenly had the money to offer concurrent studies at the college to all high school students who could pass the entrance exam. I had to take it twice, but I did get in when I was 15, and, I graduated from high school when I was 16, and here I am!
I did the college early not really because I was "motivated", but more because I heard I only had to show up for high school 4 hours a day if I did it.
It is fantastic that you homeschooled. I could go on and on and on about the horror of public schools and curriculum and so on (guess it comes from mom having a school), but I won't. :D

I was homeschooled for 7 years, now I go to a Christian private school. I'm in my last year of high school.
(I'm 5'10'')
Your my height ;)
Orian,
You were homeschooled? Did you like it? I'm thinking of homeschooling my 1st grader due to his migraines and missing school a lot. I don't feel he's getting much out of the year so far (they're 2 weeks into it and he's bored). My husband won't hear of it though, so I need good reasons, not just the migraines... or the heat. He doesn't want to take them out of public schools because they need to 'grow up in the real world and be men'. I think he's wrong and they need education, not recess and walking from one room to the next. I don't feel they are getting a real education where we are (Florida). I'm originally from NY and they are way ahead of Florida on the education meter. I think public schools don't teach any better than a caring, loving, mother... all they are learning is bad manners, how to hate recess in this 110 degree heat, and that the bus is a nightmare. I find I am at the school more than I am at home... and the schools are so overcrowded. Our H.S. went from 700 to 1000 within a year. That's incredible. They're all being shoved into portable classrooms now. Seriously ... I need some pros about homeschooling and negatives about public school (besides the obvious).

We-hell..
I do feel that being in a homeschool environment, (there were only two or three people in my grade), I did lose something in the social field. But, also, I wasn't really in a lot of activities either. I think that if you homeschool, as long as you keep him in social activities, i.e. martial arts, baseball, etc., he should "grow up in the real world", and be perfectly normal socially, which is what your husband is worried about right? Also, being constantly surrounded by my parents and siblings, I was constantly warned of the dangers of smoking, drinking, and having sex before marriage. It became ingrained into my head, so that by the time I was confronted with those pressures, I was able to handle them. This is true of every homeschooled kid I have come across. Of course there are always those Lord of the Rings, I wear purple ponies to school kids that come out of it, but, I'm guessing yours wouldn't turn out like that ;)
A big part of public schools is the loss of control you, as the parent, feel. For 8 hours of the day, you have no idea what your child is doing, what they could be getting into. Since he is a first grader, you really don't have to worry about all that yet, but its still nice to keep in mind.
As a result of being around parents so much, homeschooled kids seem to go through their "rebellion" stage earlier, as a result of getting that constricted feeling earlier. This means that the resources available to them are less severe. For instance, since I had not gone through puberty yet when I went through mine, I cussed and stole things, and disrespected my parents.
I'll write more on it later. I've got to go and finish cleaning.

Here is a wip of my sister's puppy. If anyone can give me some tips on fur, I would really appreciate it.
The biggest fur tip I can give is to make sure your strokes are always running in the direction the fur is growing..... You seem to be doing that so far and what a cute little face on this pup.
Here's a closeup of the directional strokes I was speaking of:
