Don't know if anyone here is interested in this sort of thing or not but just in case....(Editted to add: this offer is only valid 8/21 through 8/27, so if you want to get it, you need to do it this week....)
You can get a Staples Slim-Line (battery-powered) pencil sharpener for free. They're on sale for $9.94, with a $10 rebate You can submit one rebate for up to 10 sharpeners, so you can get 10 of these for FREE. You can submit your rebate online too, immediately after placing your order, no mail-in needed. I ordered my sharpeners & free gift (a cd player), submitted my rebate info & was all finished in app. 3-4 minutes total. Staples EasyRebate system is ridiculously fast & easy LOL! (There's a $5 rebate available on a Boston sharpener too - I didn't check the details on that one yet)
The sharpener is item #935215 --- at staples.com, just use the item number in the search box to see it...
Of course, you can order just one :) too. If you have a Staples Rewards number, OR if you order $50 total or more, you get free shipping. And lastly, you can get a free personal cd-player too -- add item #580342 to your cart (that's the cd player) and at check-out, use coupon code 87203 -- that gives you the CD player as a free gift. (At first, the cd player will show with a price in your cart, but after you enter the coupon, it's taken back off & shown as zero - free gift) I *think* it's a min. $50 order to get the free gift.
So.... in a nutshell - I ordered 10 sharpeners for $99.40, got free shipping, got a free cd player coming with them, and will get a $100 rebate check in app. 3-4 weeks. I'll probably keep two of the sharpeners myself, and donate the rest to our local school.... Staples is great w/ their rebates, never had a problem w/ them -- we've got a supply closet full of "free" office supplies - love their rebate program!!
If you don't like shopping online, you can get it in your local Staples store too...
Now if I could just figure out how to get free pencils :p

Just a quick addendum --- a very nice CSR from Staples just called me & said that their system had flagged my order as having a slight problem as far as using the coupon for the free gift --- apparently in order to get the free CD player, your order should be $100. Well, 10 sharpeners was 99.40 so I was 60cents short :p She suggested tossing in a pen or paper clips or something -- so in went a 99cent box of paper clips & all was good to go.
SO.... if you ARE shooting for the free gift also, toss in a small filler item like that to bring your subtotal up to $100 or better, then their system won't hiccup on the coupon & you'll get your free cd player too!
The rebate deal on the sharpeners is A-OK, no matter what, whether you buy just one sharpener, two, three or ten --- the $100 minimum order is ONLY in regards to using the coupon for the free cd player.
Rose, I run a website for couponing/bargain-hunting/online shopping deals, so this is "my job" so-to-speak hunting down stuff like this -- plus it keeps us well-stocked in bargains personally too LOL! When I saw pencil sharpeners, I thought it might be useful to someone here...
(Should I tell Arlene about the free truffles I found earlier? :D - not Godiva's though, durn it!!)

Thank YOU!!!! I was wondering about the quality, but figured free is free, so I'd give them a shot... Glad to hear it's a good one!!
Re: Truffles. This may be available via their catalogs too - don't have a current catalog to check. At Swiss Colony you can get a 36pc box of truffles free w/ any purchase at all. Supposedly a $32.50 value, though I think their regular prices are rather inflated... anyway, buy anything else at all & you get the truffles free. Note that the page *says* that the offer has expired already -- that's incorrect, I verified w/ them that it IS a valid offer again this year
"Cheapest" deal we could find was sm. box of christmas petit-fours for $7.95. Add $2.95 shipping & you end up w/ petit-fours and truffles at your door for app $11.
http://www.swisscolony.com
item #AG1316 is the free 36pc tin of truffles
item #AW1200 is sm. tin of petit-fours
item #AW1460 is the 15-pc liqueur truffles I ended up getting instead of the petit-fours :D couldn't help myself...
Have you ever had truffles from Harry & David? Those are my favorite. YUM, those things are to die for....
:blushing: Sorry to get so off-topic here.... pencil sharpeners were on topic, chocolate isn't :blushing:

Well, he who hesitates... loses... or something. I can't remember the end of this saying. I just tried to order a couple of sharpeners and they are all out of stock. :(
Sniffling... Thanks anyway, Raven. I should have ordered this afternoon when you first posted. Keep us posted when you find other good stuff like that for us artists!

Oh man, I'm sorry about that -- I should have posted quicker too - I knew about it for a few hours before I posted & hesitated, not sure if it would be appropriate here or not....
Judging from talk on other deal boards, it does appear that the sharpeners are out-of-stock in most areas now, though a few people are still finding them in their region, or at their local Staples store... sorry I wasn't quicker telling you about it! Free-after-rebate stuff generally goes pretty quick once the word spreads around the deal sites.... It probably wouldn't be worth the cost of the postage, but if you like, I could mail you one of mine after I get them...
I don't run into art-related deals very often, other than sale stuff at DickBlick or places such as that, that you already know about. That's why I bargain-hunt fiercely for all our 'mundane everyday necessity' stuff - then I've got more money left over to buy the "fun" stuff with :p But if I do spot anything else that seems appropriate here, I'll be quicker about posting next time!

Thanks for the heads up on sharpeners.
What is the name of your coupon website, or is it not on the web.?
Thanks Rosemary

I reeeeally need one of these (I have the plug-in kind right now...it's a little too unweildy for my taste!). I have a couple of local stores that might still have them on the shelves...
Thanks for the heads up! (And yes, please...keep us posted on any artsy deals you might run across!) :D

Sharpeners are STILL available for online ordering here in central FL --- go figure! So, they may still be around here & there, depending on where you live.
Someone elsewhere told me that he got "out of stock" yesterday, but this morning, he was able to order after all.... maybe they're shuffling inventory around between distribution warehouses or something... anyway, just keep checking online for your zip code & maybe they'll be available again after all... (or call your local store before making the drive)
Good luck - I hope those of you who need one can find it! Rosemary, my site is at http://www.mybargainstuff.com ...
I found some of these sharpeners on Ebay... got two for 9.99... and paid 4.99 shipping, so not bad... 7 bucks and change when it all worked out. I agree with Arlene, these are great sharpeners. I've used mine all day and it doesn't overheat and makes a perfect point. It's also not as loud as some of the bigger size electrics... I like the sound, it's kind of soothing! LOL If that makes sense. I have a Boston and a X-Acto Electric and both are REALLY loud!
They still have some on Ebay, so it's an alternative to buying from Staples if you don't want to wait. :-)
