This is my value scale, I'm not sure if this is what you were aiming for on complimentary colors though. I stuck with the red/dgreen there. Thanks for looking .......Janine

Arlene, This is my attempt at the three color, color wheel, oh yeah and white. I did not have the exact colors as you, but I picked my best pure of the colors I had. Thanks for any input. Thought I would do some of your exercises today. I need all the basics I can get. Janine

you need more layers to really see if it will work.

When you say more layers, how many layers would you like to see for the primary colors? I only placed two. I also allowed the white of the
paper to show though for helping in my values, would you rather see me get the lighter affect with more white? I'm unsure exactly. More layers on Value scale also? Let me know, and I'll keep working!!!! Thanks, Janine

i can't tell you how many layers. there is no formula that says do 1 layer here, and five layers here...even if everyone used the same pressure, everyone's hand is slightly different...as is how they lay down the strokes.
the layers on the value scale should be done with more layers on the darker colors and less on the lighter. as for the wheel that should ONLY be done with white, and not less layers.

Ah hah, got ya now, You mean across the board more layering. I'll work on that. Thanks for your time.....I really appreciate it. I know you must feel certain that your dealing with kindergarners here, but really having just even gotten into this whole art thing this year, I don't even have a high school art class to fall back on. I did attend a drawing class, but it was technique and no basics. I truly am learning it all as I go. Just months ago, I had no idea what compostion, value or color theory even meant. They teach Art classes at the local college, but I'm 36 years old with three children, a job, and a husband that doesn't really get this new obssesion (since it's not him) lol, Anyhow my point was THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.......You and this site have already taught me so much already...........Janine
