 Tom, you just keep wowing me here! This is really great! Was it a bit easier to get the values correct on the toned board or harder? It is a lovely, light filled TomC painting!

Hi Rose __I finally finished a painting that I am satisfied with.. I am finding the toned board lends itself to warmer paintings which I always strive for. a large section in the mid range is mostly toned board with out much pastel, So I guess I didn't use that much pastel on the painting. The values seem much easier for me as they are something I aways struggle with. the painting was done in about 2 hours--thank you Tom

Awesome, Tom... and that will make you feel good now that you will use less pastel and make more paintings! I see the profits rolling in (can I be your agent??) ;-) Seriously, this is wonderful and can't wait to see more!

I love the color of the toned surface....the painting really has a wonderfully warm feel to it. Very nice! :)

This is great Tom...thanks for showing the stages.
I like your cool greens and blues on this. These add to the warmth of the overall picture.
What do you use to colour the board?..excuse me if you have already given this info elsewhere.

Hi Dave--thank you for commenting. I have been toning the surface with regular arcrylic paints. After the board is primed I apply the pastel ground mixture --I let the brush strokes show through-- giving it a little different look....tom

Thanks Tom...I see your brush strokes now...they give a added texture.
I haven't used pastel on anything other than paper, must give this a try.
Many thanks
