Hello- I,m trying to get in the mood for cold weather with autumn on its way. I painted this scene over the weekend. It is a walking path around a small lake near my home. I included a close up --- Pastel on prepared board-- Comments welcome thank you Tom

Magical Tom.....the light and atmosphere you have captured are just wonderful. A real inspiration...will have dig my old pastels out and get some of those unused warm colours working.:)
I have one very minor point... the path seems a little too level and straight...probably how it is in real life, but I would be tempted just to break it up just a little.

I thought this was beautiful Tom, really atmospheric :)
I agree with Dave about the path, a little too straight. And I don't know much about composition, but I felt it could do with the path leading to 'something' that would stop your eye being led out of the picture. I may be way off here, but just my feelings :o . The other little bit I would like to change a teeny bit is the 'white' corner (top right), a little bit stark compared with the rich colours elsewhere.
Still think it's great though :bye1:

Love the technique, Tom.
Very nice - the colours are so vibrant. You've captured the season well.

The color and the way you captured the light are really beautiful. Think this is my new favorite of yours!

Your landscapes sing. Wonderful work with light and shadow.

Wonderful, The properties of pastel are represented so well. This is a very pleasing piece to look at. there is wonderful color and texture to keep your eye looking at the piece, but your eye does zoom down the path . The shadows across the path aid some but, if you squint at the piece you might see that they form almost a ladder effect. They should NOT be eliminated though. Keeping your strongest value contrasts and clearest colors to the foreground and more mutted and values that are closer together to the back should slow this process.
This definately gave me the feeling of a indian summer. I can here the chattering of the dried leaves and the warm sun on my face, and the smell of autumn woods.
