I started a drawing of apple blossoms, and now I am thinking about composition…where do I go from here? My original idea was to do it with a background around it with the floral grouping a little off center.

The rough line drawing is on 12x16 paper (intending it to be about 12x14 finished). The line drawing wouldn’t fit my scanner but I liked the crop when I tried (if I do crop it I would bring the top down a tad more, and leave the side whole, or set it in a little more). How is that for decisive…now you know why I am lost.

I am attaching a dig pix, and the scan.

Ideas would be welcome

I won't tell you what to do or offer suggestions yet. what I think you need to do is thumbnails of possible ideas with some shading...so show the darks, lights and midtones. these thumbnails shouldn't take you more then five minutes each and should be rough.

then post your favorites asking for comments.

i kinda thought you might say that... if you are going to make me do it myself, guess i'll have to suck it up and be a big girl. :D shuffling off with my lip out to the drawing board to do some more thumbnails.

well i found out quickly if i crop a white flower and take out the bg i have no darks! only a ton of lights and a few mids.

thanks for not using the :bangin: (but i deserved it)

think golden mean, think balance, etc. glad to see you did the thumbnails to determine your values...isn't it a great tool?
