:bye1: Hi you

Been a while that I did not come back.. you know how is life... holidays .. working at sand castle ... walk the dog in the marsh .. tea time :D

painting sometimes .. coming back to flirt with perfection ... listening to the client's critique ... not listening to the client's critique :D

going to the bank to drop all that money .. takes a lot of time :p

so excuse me not to come more often...

Loooooooooong ago, I had a wonderful day hunting woodcock, such a strange day that I wanted to write the story and send it to a French magazine called "woodcock passion". The chief editor is a fan.. a fan of my hunting tales, mostly. :D He already published a few of them. But instead of writing, I started to scribble scenes of the story. I drew on a terrible 90g printing paper with an ink drawing felt pen. Then added a light watercolour touch.

I did three illustrations.. rather different. The second one more chilldish but showing the width of the landscape.

Here is the first one

if you look at the pine trees trunks, it's really a scribble.

Do you see my friend Jacques, with the white hairs behind the trees ?
He 's a really nice guy.
76 years old and cool enough to bear my bad mood
Say "Hi" to Jacques
...
Louder, he is really deaf !
:D

Now, look at the third one.
In French we say "dessin au fil" that means more or less, a one-line drawing
I love the pointer.. really true attitude

say hello to Jasper ...
as old and deaf as his master ! :D

who said : "too small!" ?

here is a blow-up

Great, is'n t it ?

I did n't finish the drawings, nor wrote the story, but I pinned the drawings on the walls of my workshop. They stayed there 4 years ...
You know how life is ... holidays .. working at sand castle ... walk the dog in the marsh .. tea time :D

Each year at the end of the woodcock hunting season, I had regrets not to have my story published ... not to have my story writen ... heu ... illustrated.
Next year perhap's if ... sand castle ... :p

Cyrille, welcome! Very nice pen and ink work, and I love the dog (and yes! I can see your old friend behind the tree!)

I checked out your website, and am very impressed with your drawings and paintings! Hope you post more often, this is wonderful!

Hi Rosebud

yes it's a huge website, an enormous work to keep it living and up-to-date..
it's my biggest sand castle :D
200 hundred pages half in French half in English,
800 visitors a day

To come back to these scribbles, it's a real pleasure to create and so quick.
When I paint my realistic dog paintings .. the dogs painted in scenes .. I stay a month and a half at least on the same work, with great part of pleasure, but on some parts, I really work on duty. Doubting.
Here "scribbling" is just fun... an hour of recreation. and it doubles my pleasure of writing stories. When I shall have enough of them, I shall perhap's publish a book..
 old dream !

Here is an other illustration and an enlarged detail

http://www.the-dog-museum.com/images/BD-plume2-05/sBD3-plume-5.jpg

my young pop of Labrador retrieving a snipe...and disturbing a woodcock
I 'm very happy of this view of the woodcock taking off. It's a difficult bird to sketch by memory, when you are not use to.

I'm starting new scribbles showing my friend who is older and older, and his 12 years old pointer "Jasper".. when they go hunting now, it's just a walk for both of them.. a real slow walk .. hard to sketch :(

have a great week-end
