:) Hello everyone hope i'm posting this in the right place, what i was wondering is if a picture is drawn with pastel pencils and then a few details are added with coloured pencils does it then become a mixed media painting or drawing or is it still pastel, i just wondered as i know a lot of artist use both together

Hi Della....here's my 2 cents worth. I would still call it a pastel painting/drawing. Many pastel artists start their paintings with watercolor washes to block in color, or tone their paper with acrylics. They still call their finished pieces pastels. I work with acrylics and colored pencils alot...but when I enter them, I enter them as colored pencil because 99% of the surface is covered with cp's. The only exception to that is the CPSA International Exhibit which requires colored pencil exclusively. There are a few exceptions to that...like graphite or watercolor pencils, but they are still pencils. Hope I have answered your question :)
