View Full Version : Posting your images - large please
Hi
I suppose this is the forum for this request:
Please post your images in a size where it is possible for people to really see the piece of art....
I would think that a size of 500 pixels on the largest side would do it ;)
It is difficult to comment and praise a smaller picture, where too many details are lost :bye1:
Scribbletalks size limits are actually 600x600 pixels in any direction @ 72dpi. That will produce a post that is clear and large enough to see. Hope this helps.

I'm glad you mentioned that, TJ.
How does one determine the dpi? I can see the dimensions and file size..but it doesn't tell me the dpi. I scan mine in at 150dpi so I can print them if I want to.
Thanks

your scanner should give you the option of changing DPI. some are easier to find then others.
on mine it is in the software, on the scan page i can choose the DPI before i scan. if you don't see it look for drop downs options at the top of page before you scanand look for resolution.
Thanks katy...It is there..but I thought it could be changed with a software program too.

What if we aren't scanning art? My problem is that my latest piece (and most piece I work) are much larger than my scanner. How do I set the image size if I'm working with a digitial pic of my work? Sorry, this is all new to me!
Hi
I think there are some confusion in this thread between size allowed to post on ScribbleTalk contra how many dpi you scan in ???
As Toni points out the size of your postings must be 600 x 600 pixels, that is the size your image will "fill on the screen" (- in the program you can convert this to a measurement like inches or centimetres - but not for this purpose!). There are also a maximum of kb .... but setting the pixels right first it is rarely a problem. Otherwise you just choose a lightly smaller size in pix x pix.
When you scan, you can choose like 300 dpi - for a nice picture. But when you convert your image for www ("save for web" in forexample PhotoShop or another program) the image automaticlly turns into 72 dpi. If your pic was 1200 x 1200 pixels it will be too large; still the "fill on screen-size" are the 600 x 600 pixels maximum. You can also choose to save as; jpeg, still the size must be pre-chosen. I always go through a program after the scannerprogram, but I think:
If you don't go to any programs between your scanner and posting at Scribble, I suppose you set your "outputdimensions" in scanner program to be in pixels, and select 600 pixels (on the largest side). You can then probably choose the 72 dpi (instead of 300 dpi for better scans) also, so the image is just ready for www, but not for printing !
With the digital photos I also always brings the image into a program like Photoshop to alter the size, and other stuff .... From a digital camera there is of cause also a size on the image - you have to alter that somehow - also if you want prints from your photos...
Hope this didn't confuse things more - did it explain what you needed to know ;)
