I think i'll start with this new forum. I just won the The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts Graphic Award at the Allied Artists of America show at the National Arts Club in NYC for When Time Stopped. The Juror for the awards was Virginia M. Mecklenburg...senior curator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
The members read like a who's who in realism...for example Gary Erbe the well known trompe l'oeil artist just finished as president, and well known artists such as Raymond Kinstler, David Pena, Eric Conklin, Serge Hollerbach and Michael Molnar had pieces in the show.
Linda Wesner another colored pencil artist (a friend of Barbara Krans-Jenkins) also won an award at the show and I had the pleasure of meeting her briefly. We were the only 2 cp artists there. Go CP artists!!!!
Hi Arlene
Congratulations on the Award
A fantastic painting, the colors and textures are outstanding, and the whole concept/idea of showing the History of this date in this manner is brilliant :)

Wow! Good for you Arlene. I love this piece. I spent a lot of time looking around the entire piece, but couldn't stop looking at the newspaper and the colors bouncing off it! Love the use of RED here! :)
Best,
Christine

   Beautifully done, Arlene! And I must add that my son (he's 8) also commented on how "cool" the newspaper looks. I tend to lend my fondness to the floral bouquet. Yummy, just yummy. Great job!
