This is 12 x 14 inches, soft pastel and CP on velour.
I wasn't as detailed in this as usual, I just wanted the emphasis on the eyes. Still got the ears, whiskers and right cheek to work on.
Any comments welcome.

Oh my Gosh,,,, this is incredible!! I love how you did this one! I like how the detail just sort of fades out and the eyes definitely are the main attraction! Well done!

Well, if emphasing the eyes was your goal, you've definitely acheived it. Those pop out from across the room! My daughter walked by behind me and yelled WOW! so loudly that I almost jumped out of my chair!
Beautiful, Gayle.
Hi Gayle
it's your usual high standard  Beautiful ;)
could you tell how you use the soft pastel and cp's together:
do you use one below and the other on top or mix it as you go ?
What advantages do you get in a piece like this (I cannot help thinking the cp as no. 1 and pastels as support - probably because I use mostly cp :) ), but what are your intentions/advantage in/from mixing them ?
This is gorgeous Gayle,
You could leave it as is..and it's still wonderful

Thank you for the great comments.
Lene, I used the soft pastels as an undercoat and worked the detail with a mix of pastel pencils and CP's. The advantage for me in this piece, was that I wanted a very soft, out of focus look to the background which was easier for me to achieve with the pastels. I also find working completely in CP on velour difficult as the first layer seems to slide about. I started out with pastels and drift back to them every now and again especially in the bigger pieces.
Bill, being me, I never keep anything, but I have pm'd Karen and will do a new eye tutorial for here.

This cat is stunning. I just want to sit and look at him. The eyes are fabulous, the fur is perfect, and I love the crop, too.
