Oh, I'm so glad I found all of you! After taking 10 days to attend to life and its attendant joys, I was surprised to discover the new composition that had appeared. I guess it was not for nothing that I have spent my odd moments lately reading Sherlock Holmes stories! Simply applying his methods and following the trail of pencil shavings, I arrived here last night. Quite a few folks here have been instrumental in my artistic development: it's heartening to be able to gather and keep on working!
About me: I'm an editor, writer, artist, and single mom living in Aurora, Ontario, which is about 25 miles north of Toronto. I've spent a lot of my life hanging out in galleries and museums, but mostly devoted myself to music in my early years. When my children came along, I got into fabric arts, and had a lot of fun designing quilts, toys, and costumes. Less than two years ago, I had a few weeks to myself while the kids were on holiday with their father. I picked up a pencil and started to draw one of the cats, and surprised myself with the drawing. I did another. And another. Then I logged onto the net, because you can find anything on the internet, and started looking around at drawing and painting sites, and absorbing everything I could find about graphite and colored pencil. I kept working, and learning so, so much, and rediscovering the peace and contentment that I'd thought had vanished forever. Nowadays I'm creating portraits, mostly of dogs and other pets, and starting to make some income from that, while enjoying myself enormously.
It's good to be here, to connect with familiar folks, and with new people too!
