Hi everyone, just had a fantastic weekend at Bob Ebdons coloured pencil course in Burton Manor Hall on the Wirral. My friend Jenny and I had a relaxing and informative time experimenting with using coloured pencil in different way including over indian ink and also by dripping paint or ink blobs on Arches watercolour paper, letting it dry then just seeing what could be made from the blobs. I found this excercise to be so freeing and really enjoyed myself with this one. I call it a Fire Flower dragon as it is hiding among the Fire Flowers with its camaflaged tail to catch unwary prey.
Thanks Bob for a wonderful time. :bye1:

Lucky you! I bet his workshop was so much fun!
I love your dragon! I'll definately watch my step next time I go out to weed the garden. ;)
I sure hope you try this again. What a wonderful creativity this brings out. :D

Hi Jo - love the way this turned out. Bob did a workshop near me - which ofcourse I attended. Didn't get around to the the paint splodge bit but did the ink pic and the RBY which I have just finished. Must try this too. You have great imagination.
Jenny
I love this Jo :) ,
I love how you have rendered the flowers from the red blobs and i like being able to see the other vibrant splashes in the background it is very pleasing to the eye.
That dragon is wonderful -did you use a dragon you have seen before in a film or a book as inspiration?
I was trying to draw a tattoo dragon a while back and really struggled with it, I think you have proven just a wonderful imagination you have.
I am envious -I wish I could have gone to Bob's workshop :annoyed: :D
Huge hugs,
ALI

Funnily enough, this is not my usual type of dragon. Usually he would have wings and be enormous but this little chap is no giant, cant fly and has a bit of the oriental in him but he is not a sinuous dragon. Hmmmmm. Amazing what ink blobs will do to you. :D
It was a terrific workshop, shame it wasnt a week long.

This is adorable! And what a great imagination you have, Jo. I love the little fellar. Reminds me of some of the really cute lizards I run into on occasion while gardening. They always make me smile.

Thanks for the kind words Jo and Jenni - but a WEEK!!!   It would kill me! The weekend was great fun - as always, but there was a particularly nice crowd on this one. I think because the college was on the Wirral, which is just across the estuary from Liverpool. I always find some people there with great senses of humour, and interesting memories - one time I met someone who taught John Lennon in Sunday School:confused: and this time two ladies were sharing memories of seeing the Beatles as supporting acts in the interval breaks at some venues in the sixties, before their Hamburg days! It was a very mixed bunch in terms of ability, but I felt that everyone came away with something they should be proud of, and Jo should certainly be proud of her dragon, and the ink picture that she did of a view through a gate.
I am still sickly, coughing and sneezing, but I have a commission to finish before 14th, and another workshop 17th, so I can't afford to take too much time off. Of course it is a well known fact that cold and flu viruses attack the Y chromosome much more than the X, so I am being incredibly brave in even getting out of bed:p
